The Waterfront has been the favourite of locals and tourists alike since it opened its door 15 years ago. They serve authentic Sri Lankan food (the ONLY one on the island!), cooked up by owner/chef Ira Narasinghe, who inherited her talent for cooking from her mother, Kuruppuarachchi. The Sri Lankan curries are bit fiery for the uninitiated, but you can request it to be a bit milder. All the dishes are made from scratch, using Ira’s secret blend of herbs and spices, including curry leaves picked here on Lamma Island. The vegetable dishes are all vegan-friendly, as they do not use ghee, paneer or butter in any of their dishes. Chef’s recommendation include, lamb curry, chickpea and spinach, and the dahl. A variety of western dishes, from pasta to sandwiches to steak, are also available. They have a kid’s menu for the little ones too. They have a good selection of drinks: 4 beers on tap (including the Portuguese lager, Super Bock), 10+ selection of bottled beers, various wines (red, white, and rose), aperitifs, liquor and whiskeys. They also have 3 must-try signature cocktails: The Lamma Sunset (pink gin, frozen strawberries, soda water, fresh lime juice, sugar syrup), The West Indies Swizzle (Bumbu rum, mint, sugar syrup, fresh lime juice, pineapple juice) and the Mojito (white rum, sugar syrup, lime juice, mint , soda water). Coffee, juices, soft drinks and a delicious mango lassi are also available. Enjoy your meal and drinks looking out to the fantastic sea view at the The Waterfront, located 6-minutes away from the Yung Shue Wan ferry pier. Business hours are from 10am until 10pm and they are closed on Mondays.
